How big are the tuna?

Our tuna can reach sizes of up to 300 pounds. They are abundant and relatively easy to find. We use large live bait set deep before a moving school of dolphins to target the biggest tuna. With this method, you can hook tuna weighing up to and over 300 pounds.

Purse seine fishing for tuna has been banned within 200 miles of Panama for twenty years, which helps maintain a healthy population. Big tuna are present year-round, but the best time to target them is during the dry season, from December through May.

When is the best months to fish?

For most bites from more kinds of fish June through November. The rainy season is when everything bites better

When is the best time for Marlin?

Year-round, doesn’t make much difference.

What fish are seasonal?

Wahoo are prevalent inshore from June through December. Inshore fishing for various species is generally better during these months.

What is your ideal group size?

We recommend groups of two to four guests for an ideal experience.

Can you handle a larger group?

Yes, we can accommodate up to 8 or even 10 guests. We have a 31’ Fountain with twin 300hp Yamahas, captained by an English-speaking sport fishing professional. We also have extra private rooms available. Please call for details.

Is flying the only way to reach the lodge?

You can reach the lodge via a new road from the city of David to the coastal village of Pixvai, followed by a short boat ride. Fly into David on Copa or Air Panama , we will meet you at the airport and bring you to the lodge.

Is it too hot during the summer months?

Days in June, July, and August are typically overcast and cooler. The hottest months are during the winter, with clear and sunny skies. It’s always warm, but summer days are generally more comfortable.
